As negotiations on how best to protect the human rights of older people come to an end at the United Nations this week Age Action has published a new briefing paper, renewing its call for an international convention on the rights of older people.
Age Action, Ireland’s leading advocacy organisation for older people, told an Oireachtas committee this morning that the lack of an effective rural transport system was isolating older people and preventing them from accessing essential services.
Age Action and the National Women’s Council of Ireland have urged TDs to support a motion from Deputy John Brady calling for pension equality. The motion will be debated in the Dáil on Wednesday 7 December.
