Following this week's developments which saw child and family agency Tusla remove a child from the care of its grandparents on account of their age, RTE Drivetime carried a report into the situation.

The child in question was removed from the care of its grandparents and placed with foster carers - despite protestations from the couple, the child’s school and doctors.

Breda Savage, who speaks to RTE's Mary Wilson in the clip below, is an Age Action supporter.

“Please remember to be careful of older neighbours this evening”

Age Action would like to remind people that many older people are afraid of Halloween and are afraid of people calling and making a nuisance of themselves.  And we would like people as they are going around this evening to keep an eye out for any neighbours they think might be vulnerable. And please if you have bangers and fireworks don’t set them off near the homes of older people.
