How Does It Work
Did you know you can increase the value of your donation at no extra cost? Under the Government-approved tax back scheme, Age Action can claim up to 44.9% in tax from Revenue on donations of €250 or more made by individuals. All that’s required is for you to complete and return a CHY3 tax back form.
The CHY3 form is valid for five years and does not commit you to making future donations—it simply allows Age Action to claim tax back on any year your donations total €250 or more. This applies to all taxpayers, including the self-employed. There’s no cost to you, but the additional funds can make a significant difference in supporting older people in need
What do I need to do
The CHY3 form is available here. Please fill in your details and then print off to add your signature.

Frequently asked questions
How much will my donation be worth?
Do all my donations qualify?
We can only claim tax back on donations made personally by you. You must have donated €250 or more to Age Action within a single year in the last four years. This can include one-off donations or multiple contributions, such as a regular monthly gift.
What does "associated" mean?
Only tick the box for “associated with an approved body” if you were an employee of Age Action or a member of the board of management in the year your donation was made.
What if I’m not employed or have a pension?
If you have a pension, investments, or any other income subject to either income tax or capital gains tax, your donation is still eligible for tax relief.
I’m not a taxpayer, but my spouse is—can my donations still be tax-effective?
Yes, as long as you and your spouse are jointly assessed for tax purposes by Revenue.
I don’t like sharing my tax details. Will my information remain confidential?
Yes, all details are kept completely confidential between Age Action and the Revenue Commissioners. Your information will only be used for the tax claim. You don’t need to disclose how much tax you pay, and under the new system, we don’t even need to know whether you are PAYE or self-assessed or what tax rate you pay.
