Age Action thanks Patrick Connolly for eight years of leadership and service

Age Action marks the departure of CEO Patrick Paddy Connolly, thanking him for his contribution to the organisation over the past eight years.

Paddy joined Age Action in 2018 and has led the organisation through periods of significant change and development. During his tenure, he successfully steered the organisation through the COVID 19 pandemic and strengthened Age Action’s advocacy voice for the rights of older people and expanded core services nationally.

Paddy’s career spans more than three decades in the community and voluntary sector, with time spent in social care, human rights and community development. Paddy was CEO of Cairde for 14 years (committed to working with disadvantaged minority ethnic communities in Ireland from all over the world), and in 2018 was appointed by President Michael D. Higgins as a Commissioner with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.

Everyone at Age Action is so grateful for everything Paddy has brought to the organisation. His commitment to older people, and to creating a more equal Ireland in which we can all age with dignity, has made a lasting impact.

Paddy commented; “As I prepare to leave Age Action, I am proud to reflect on the progress the organisation has made over recent years and the important work that remains ahead. I would like to say a special thank you to my work colleagues and the Board; I greatly appreciate the support and dedication to older people that has marked my time here. Having worked alongside such a strong and committed team, I know the organisation is in safe hands and look forward to seeing Age Action continue its important work advocating for older people and equality.”

We thank Paddy for his leadership, dedication and friendship, and wish him every success in his next chapter. He will be greatly missed by colleagues across Age Action.
