VolunteeringVolunteering plays a vital role in Age Action’s work. The role of the volunteer department which is support by administration is to drive volunteering and provide ongoing support to volunteers and staff teams. Age Action recognises the importance of volunteers to the organisation, and the importance of planning ongoing volunteer management. Competencies: Willingness to learn however some experience of telephone techniques, IT and administration would be an advantage The main duties and responsibilities are to assist in the following areas: Assist in administrating volunteer related documentation, such as welcome letters, induction packs and exit interviews Assist in the recruitment process of volunteers Using a variety of software packages such as Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook and publisher) General typing including reports and letters Filing and keeping accurate records in relation to all aspects of volunteering on the CRM Liaising with potential volunteers and programme manager and matching volunteers to suitable volunteering opportunities Assist with the organisation of the annual volunteer appreciation event Record and redirect post Answer phones and redirecting calls to the appropriate department To maintain administration area, to ensure that it remains clean, tidy and well stocked with relevant material To ensure compliance with all Age Action’s policies and procedures To maintain a flexible approach to all aspects of the job To attend meetings and training courses when necessary Carry out all reasonable requests of the Volunteer Manager

Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over for the Childcare, Health and Social Care sectors and 25 years of age or over for all other areas. Applicants must also be in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for 1 year or more.
