Age Action West

The Drop in Information & Resource Centre in Galway city is open Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm. It provides information on benefits, entitlements and access to other services for older people and those who work for and with them.

The centre is also used for training purposes (Irish conversation circle and IT classes) and operates as a meeting space for older people and the groups working with them.

Each year Age Action West participates in Seachtain na Gaeilge, Social Inclusion Week and Positive Ageing Week. We recently decided to hold a monthly Conversation Circle for Irish speakers.

This takes place on the last Friday of each month, starting at 1pm in our office in on St Francis Street, Galway. If interested in participating, please phone 091 527831.

We also run a Spanish class (Improver level) each Monday ànd contact the office for times. The group has been meeting for many years and has built up a great rapport. New members always welcome.

Our Book Club meets on the 2nd Monday of each month in Galway City Library, starting at 11am.  This is run by a volunteer, and is a great opportunity for avid readers to come together for tea and a chat.

We would like to acknowledge the great support given to us by the staff of the various libraries we work with.

These groups run in tandem with our main services, which are the Care and Repair and Getting Started programmes.
