Budget 2013

Age Action urged the Minister for Social Protection not to make the lives of older people in Ireland even more difficult in the coming months by undermining key supports they depend on in the forthcoming Budget.
Age Action warned that if the Government acceded to the Troika’s demands to means-test the State Contributory Pension and the Household Benefits Package, and further reduce the income threshold for the Over-70s Medical Card, it would set back the rights and entitlements of older people in Ireland by decades.
Age Action is one of more than 30 organisations invited to make short presentations to the Minister at the pre-Budget forum.
